Hiking in Spiti

Hi everbody,

I am planning to go to Himachal in early September and would like to do a three to seven days hike in Spiti proper (not touching Kinnaur, Rupshu, Malana etc.). Can anyone answer the following:

How far does the motorable road go into Pin Valley? What is the last settlement before the Pin Parvati Pass and how far is it from the road? Are there any side valleys worth visiting?

I it possible to hike up Lingti Valley? How long does it take? Is it even possible to cross from the upper reaches of the Lingti valley to Kibber or Lossar? Is a permit needed?

Are there any other short treks in Spiti proper worth considering?

Oliver
