Do I need a sleeping bag from march to may??
I leave for india in middle of march and back in middle of may as well. It's not quite easy to figure out what the climate is like thus what kind of clothes I should pack. I've visited climate sites and got maximum and minimun temperatures for places I'd like to visit. It seems people's comments on weather are still confusing enough.
And their comments for sleeping bag is even more confusing. During my research I saw many people giving advice online that sleeping bag is essential even though you're leaving in march and they all suggest taking one -but something light, of course- because it could be used as a cover or a sheet when you're traveling in second sleepers and spending night at a budget guest house with its owner's sense of hygiene in question. They also recommend taking one if you're going to mannali and dharansala, dharjiling etc, and yes those places are one of many destinations from my itinerary. So,What do you all think? Should I take one-since I have such low threshold for relatively cold temperature-? or Do you think I can make do without it? I'll go to rhajastan area and agra, orcha, varanasi, amlitsar and all of the above as I mentioned. Please, shed some light on it andGod bless you for enduring all my rambling ![]() Last edited by machadinha : Feb 8th, 2008 at 14:57. Reason: font brought back to standard |

Oh yes, you'll need a sleeping bag if you plan to travel around by train without any reservation/last minute reservations. You may find someone kind enough to let you sleep on the floor of the less crowded "reserved compartments". If you get caught in the General Compartment, all the best trying to find space to even unpack your bags

You never mention if you plan sleep outdoors. If that is the case, then in addition to temperature, you will have to watch out for bugs and critters, which india has a lot of. |
