Clothing for Goa in december/ january

hello everyone. this is my first post. i was very relieved to find this site. excellent work people!!

i dont know what sort of clothes to take to Goa. i will be there in december and january. i have been told to not wear shorts and avoid wearing t-shirts for cultural reasons, but im not sure if i should follow this?

and would i be fine in lace-up runners? im doing health care related volunteer work.

thanks in advance

You will be fine with shorts and t shirts...It is too hot to wear anything more...but if doing health care related work, i would wear longer shorts and a looser t shirt...

However, in my experience, as there are so many western tourists in Goa...anything goes...But as a women i still don't dress too skimpy in Goa....but have been there 3 times and have always worn shorts and tshirts around town...and so is everyone else..

The temperature can drop to 18-20c at night so you might feel a bit chilly

Yes, i forgot to mention that it does get cool in the evenings at that time of the year, i was quite chilly most evenings and had to wear a light jacket.....But in the day it was scorching!!
