Hi and welcome to IndiaMike
![]() For starters and for a general overview, try this (entire) thread: India climate chart From experience it can get pretty chily out there in winter, say 5C'ish at night or possibly lower. So some warm stuff won't go amiss (can be bought there if necessary however; it's nice to have something with you on arrival though). Also, note that the cold may be much more pervasive than you're used to, as many places just seem to sit out the (brief) winter with little or no heating, and besides, one tends to be out and about a lot. In a warm winter, you may find it superfluous, but better to lug it around unused than to freeze your behind off with no recourse. Anyway, you don't have to pack for a polar expedition. Just a sweater and jeans and a sleeping bag or blanket and maybe a shawl will do. Thermals or clothes you can wear in layers packs light and will keep you warm. I reckon by Feb. things will already be warming up again; found Delhi and Varanasi still chilly at the start of that month though (on one trip; on another, it was much more balmy, calling for a shirt at night maybe). For an impression of dressing styles in Delhi around early Feb.: http://www.indiamike.com/photopost/s...61/ppuser/5654 . Note that the locals will of course find it cold sooner than you are likely to; however, after two months, so may you.

The layer system is always a good choice. Make sure that you have at least one sweater, one t-shirt, one safaristyle shirt, 1 poloshirt and a foldaway raincoat in your luggage. You can combine these items where necessary (and believe me, Mrs D. once wore them all when we were waiting for on Agra station for the midnighttrain to Varanasi
