Clothes for Himachal Pradesh in July/ August
Hi,
Just over 2 weeks to go until i arrive in India (hurray), not panicking any more, but just wanted to know if it would be a good idea to take a warmer jumper for the evenings in Himachel Pradesh during July and August or would this be ridiculous? |

Damp evenings can be nippy , but it is better to use a few thin layers since it is close to impossible to dry stuff for days on end in the monsoon ( I had a pair of briefs that did not dry for two days after washing) .
All underwear should be black/dark for drying up as fast as possible on sunny days. I bought a hemp sweater in HP late september with a "netty" structure ; warm with a windbreaker, dries quickly because of air passing thru it when I hang it on a line. Personal favorite back home as well. |

Hi UltraViolet
You can always buy a good sweater if it's needed fairly cheaply at any hill station you're liable to be staying in. With constant rain and no sunshine for a couple of days the temperature does drop a bit. A good waterproof lightweight parka could be a useful item to bring with you. |

That's a problem when it's warm and humid. Make sure it's the breathable type.
Alternatively you could buy an umbrella when you get there. You're off very soon so enjoy your stay in India.

Kulu shawls are lovely and not too expensive. You should be able to find them or something similar in the area if you get cold.
