Canadian Dollars Accepted

We will be visiting India shortly from Canada...and will the banks accept the Canadian dollars or should we convert them into US$ before arriving in India???

Banks accept Canadian dollars, as well as Euros, pounds, rubles, reais, yen, pesos, etc.

I think they may exchange Can dollars but on bad rate. You can bring in travellers checks Thomas Cook or whatever.

All the authorized money changers will accept Canadian dollars but the rate that you get is not very good. The only exception are the unofficial money changers in Punjab who give the best rate for Canadian dollars anywhere in India. No need for you to carry any dollars with you though, just use your ATM card from any of the major Canadian banks and you will get rupees at a very good exchange rate.
