Cameras in handluggage

Hello, Im going to India in 4 weeks and its my first time! I'm flying with Air India if that helps/makes any difference.

I am a keen hobbyist photographer and would prefer to keep my SLR Camera in my handluggage as it is expensive and would feel better that it is on my person. If my luggage happens to go missing, I would be gutted if I couldn't take photographs! I also have a video camera that is my Mums and would like to have in my handluggage too.

Would these be a problem when I arrive? Do I need to delcare them or anything like that?

Yes, you should definitely keep your cameras and lenses in your hand luggage. You won't have any problems. If your hand luggage has a weight limit, and it is getting too heavy, you can also wear the camera around your neck.

No problem at all, you're allowed to bring things like a camera and laptop as long as they are used and as long as they are for your own use and you're bringing them back with you.

If you go on any internal flights, or when you leave India, bear in mind that batteries are not allowed as hand luggage, so you may need to take them out of the camera.
