Buddhist pilgrimage

I will go on a Buddhist pilgrimage to northern India and Nepal (Lumbini) next Jan./Feb. I read that I should bring white clothes which will be ok for summer clothes, but how about the temperatures there at this time of year? Shall I bring a warm jacket or pullover? I don't want to take too many heavy clothes and was thinking of buying some clothes in India. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. I will fly to Delhi and start travelling from there by bus. We will fly to Colombo afterwards for another week in Sri Lanka. Thanks!

hi there

in the morning it will be warm but at night it will be cold, therefore bring with you a warm jacket . 2 years ago while i was in Bodhgaya that same period { on January} at night it was really cold, around 2 - 3 degrees above zero, inside the room it was much colder but around 11 o clock in the morning the temperature was 22-23 degrees. The same happened in Kathmandu , and as i remember , on the national newspapers it said that it was the year with soooo much cold. But don`t worry there are a lot of clothes you could buy from there

yes im in delhi right know and its getting colder and ealier everyday the days are not bad.the mornings and nights,a woolen shawl works,so during that time in Nepal you for need a warm jacket.what i would next time is buy some thermal under in the states top and bottoms they dont take up much space.then buy decent coat here wont cost much and if you dont want to take back giye to a local.

thanks ammadas

Thanks for your information. How cold (in °C) can it get in Delhi in winter? I live in Austria, so bringing warm clothes is no problem for me. Today we are having -1°C and it is supposed to get colder in the night. Regarding shoes: I guess I should bring some warm shoes as well?
