Books and Travel Guides about India and Destinations

Hi

I am preparing a list about the most popular books and travel guides which folks refer to when they are planning or visiting india?

I stay in Delhi and cannot live without the Eicher City Map : Delhi by Eicher Goodearth Limited

ISBN-10: 8190060104
ISBN-13: 978-8190060103

I was wondering which ones do you folks pack?

My IM Crib notes have no ISBN that I can find and currently not available at any bookstore BUT with them you are guaranteed not to run into any hordes of backpackers or give business to an unworthy &/or shamelessly plugged hospitality outfit!!!

Outlook traveller Guide books are excellent.
I refered their Hill Guide and was more than satisfied for my uttaranchal tour in 2005.
They have following titles for Indian travel
52 weekend breaks from Mumbai
`` `` `` `` Delhi
`` `` `` `` Bangalore
100 Holidays in Hills
Kerala
Uttarkahnd (uttaranchal)
Goa
Wildlife Holidays
Heritage Holidays ( 2 books)
101 Pligimages

Ronak.

A little known travel guide book is Bhraman Sangi published from Kolkata....

I like it because it is very detailed and good for shoestring traveling......The western Guide books tend to deal India in a very superficial manner....their version of shoestring is actually not so shoestring for an average Indian....like they will claim that for shoestring budget assume your expenditure to be 10-15 USD....now that translate into 500-700 rs... which is hardly shoestring for an average Indian....

The flopside however is that Bhraman Sangi has been shoddily translated from Bangla to English, is lopsided in favour of West Bengal....and other favourite destinations of Bengalis....

Nevertheless...for its price it never pinches
