Baggage

My travel bag has evolved to a convertable backpack / soft luggage bag of carry-on size. If it won't fit in there, leave it at home, or mail it home.

A baggage chain and small locks for the zippers, and a large padlock for hotel doors are also needed. Idia made locks are pretty cheesy.

If you want to disquise the bag, buy some trashbags locally. Or just give the bus porter a big tip, and he will keep an eye on it for you.

Personally I use my old trusty Berghaus 45 litre rucksack
Its been on every trip with me since 1989 and still doing well though the water proofing is now a tad usless and it does have a tendency to smell but I'm attached to it like an trusty trvel companion ...

Its a top opener though I must admit i do fancy buying one of these macpacs from NZ with the zip around the bag ...really handy rather than trying ot find something and pulling out everything to find it

I like the smaller bags because the old maxim is so true...If you ahve the room then you'll fill it
If you dont then you can't and I loathe heavy rucksacks

Don't know if that tells you anything or helps but just thought I'd add my ruppee's worth
