Question Baby Formula

Hello,

We are traveling to India next month with our baby, who will be 9 months when we leave.

She is mostly breastfed, however she does have the occasional bottle. I will be bringing some SMA over from the UK, but am trying to figure out what brands of formula are available in India.

Anyone with experience regarding this?

Many Thanks

I'm not aware if any international brands are available here, but Nestle Lactogen is considered a good brand in India. It is available in different stages (1 and 2) depending on the infant's health and age.

In England, we make up 6-8 botles at a time and just put them in the fridge till needed, even 2 days later the milk is OK.

I was told that this can't be done with Indian brands of formula milk, and that the made-up bottle can't be re-heated later, is this correct?

Thats what it says on the can, it tells you to use the formula within the next 30 min and then disgard the rest. I only used it a few times and my son cant stand it, so I try never to HAVE to use it.

Yep, my friends in Mumbai say the same re locally produced formula - must be used immediately.

I did a search online and found a shop in Delhi that stocks a good selection of UK brands (SMA,etc) - am sure its quiet pricey compared to the local brands though.

I am very reluctant on using any Nestle products though, due to their activities both in India and Africa!
