Appropriate footwear
What would be the appropriate footwear in India, mostly plains and hot climate

sandals. offers some protection and easy to take off.

The ones I took that I liked best
were a pair of Keen Sandals, full foot sandals, with cutouts on the sides, nice soles, strong toe. Unless you're trekking, or in cold weather, "real" shoes are unnecessary for me.

Good loafers, ie, shoes without laces. Sandals would do if you don't intend to walk a lot.
