Antiseptic handwash

Arrive in Delhi in less than a month for two years. I have been relieved to see the information on the forum and the items that are available, particularly for the price. We were thinking we were going to have to ship lots of 'luxuries' with us but I think now we'll focus on getting stuff there.

One query I have is over the waterless antiseptic handwash. I have a daughter 4 and she uses it regularly at her daycare. Has anyone come across it as Id prefer not to have to bring it.

Cheers

Dave

Dettol antiseptic handwash liquid sells the most.
You could even opt for Betadine surgical scrub lotion, that surgeons and nurses use prior to an operation.

I would advise you to bring it with you. There is very little choice in India and what is available is not very good especially for a small child.

Even though the company may not have exclusive outlets, the products are widely available at chemist shops, general stores and supermarkets.

I always bring waterless antiseptic handwash from home and have found it to be brilliant. I have never been ill (so far) and I'm sure this is part of the reason. The handwash I saw by Himalaya was in quite a large pump action bottle - around 250ml so you wouldn't want to carry that around. Try and bring a small bottle from home if you can. 50 ml lasted me many months.

slightly off topic

If I may be so 'radical', I'd just like to add that using this sort of things regularly is what makes so many people fall ill during their travels in places like India, because their immune system never had the chance to develop properly.
Don't take my statement in a wrong way...

I would agree with you in the case of children. George Carlin used to joke about how he used to swim in the Hudson River in New York amongst all the garbage to build up his immune system, and how nowadays people are too "soft" when it comes to germs....

but in my case...my immune system has developed for over half a century....
I survived some childhood diseases that people don't even get anymore!

I think there are cases in which the water available is just as dirty as the dirt. Waterless handwash certainly is useful, for instance, in rural Nepal. You may find yourself needing a 'wash' far from running water.
