Bought an American Tourister Neck Money Holder - the kind that you can hide under your shirt. When I tried that at home, my wife laughed and said it looked so obvious that I had something under my shirt.
Undaunted, I took the pouch and stuffed in under my pants between my right pocket and me. I then looped the neck strap (which was a thin strap) around my belt (so the pouch won't fall out). IT WORKED WONDERFULLY. First the pouch was made from cotton and was very comfortable in between my pants and my underwear. In fact, it was so unnoticeable, I kept reaching over to it thinking it dropped off. Secondly, being under my pants, it was completely unnoticeable and difficult to get at. Checking to see if the pouch is really easy. Slip my hand into my right hand pocket and you can feel the pouch. OH YEAH - the reason why I put the pouch on my right side is because that is where I keep my cell phone holster. That way, I push the pouch strap (which is looped around my belt) adjacent to the cell phone holster so that the strap is not obvious. It really works. Bernie WOW - MY FIRST TIME IN INDIA. WHAT A MIND BLOWER. THANKS TO ALL IM'ers FOR ALL YOUR ADVICE. IT REALLY HELPED PREPARE ME FOR THIS TRIP. I'M LOVING IT. |

I have used the same aruond-the-kneck wallet for 15 years. It's an Eagle Creek wallet with a long adjustable string and holds everything. My favorite thing is the zippered pocket on the front where I can keep ready small amounts of cash. I am a woman and wear this under my shirt and over one shoulder like a purse (not as it is usually worn just around the neck). I adjust the strap so that the actual wallet hits at my hip. Since it's under my shirt, it's not so accessible by pickpockets. I wear it in front and can easily adjust the strap so it's still accessible no matter what length of shirt I have on. When sleeping on busses and such, I just tuck it into my pants. This has worked for me on many trips all over SE Asia, INdia, Mexico....never been pickpocketed.
