A question about ATMS and Pin #s

Hi
While traveling in France and the UK recently I ran into some trouble with the ATM machines. I (an American) have a seven digit pin number and nearly all the ATMs I found in Europe would only allow me to enter up to six digits, and then the little box was filled up and the machine ignored my desperate poking at the last button. needless to say this was a real pain as I couldn't get cash and once had to convince a taxi driver to go from one ATM to another until I finally found one that let me enter seven digits.
How many digits do Indian ATMs accept? I want to know if I need to change my pin # before I go.
THannks

Thumbs up Pin

Generally Indian Banks issues 4 digit PIN no.s for the Visa Electron and Debit Cards which is acceptable to all ATMS. but Visa/Master (Credit)card allows 6 digit PIN. Which is also taken by most of the ATMs. so I think you beter you take the 6 digit PIN.

I really don know who many digits Indian ATM's accept, but i maintain the digits at minimum levels ie., 4 digits and ATM's do accept it.
