Thumbs up a fully detailed packing guide

if you are going hard, combining general travel with a bit of trekking have a look at Jenny Palmer's packing list at http://www.sci.net.au/userpages/thewold/tanglefoot.html

it is thourough with comments all the way through of what she would do next time...

here's another one

Here's another site that I have found tremendously helpful: Randy Travel Trips for Third World Travel - http://www.ease.com/~randyj/rjfootls.htm. Click on the "what to take" section for some thoughts... I have read that chapter about three times, I think.

He started writing this with the intention of it becoming a book, but could never seem to get it published. I like his common sense approach. For me, you don't find sites like this very often.

Frisbee

One thing I have to remember to take with me this year is a "frisbee". Not only does it provides hours of enjoyment on the beach but makes a good meal tray also.

There is something to be learned here , but perhaps not to be adopted : how a party of two can start out for the Annapurna Circuit with 18-21 kilos load each .. without carrying a tent , or food ..

Hey Mike - have you seen those 'Travel Frisbees' now available ? They are like a circle of cloth, with a thick edge that contains a bendy metal insert. You can fold it up into quarters or more, squash it into a pocket, and it turns back to a circle when you get it out again. I saw one on an overland trip I did a few years ago - sure was a lot of fun for all. Made a lousy meal-tray, though
