I spent a couple of days in Guwahati. There's a interessting Kali temple there and a nice shoreline to visit. I took a bus(about six hours) to Kaziranga and spent three days at a inn near the park. After that i got a ride up to Jorhat to where the ferries to Majuli depart. Once I got to Majuli I stayed at one of the Satra's guest houses and biked around the island for four days. There's many interesting satra's to visit there. Afterwards i took a bus back from Lahkimpur to Guwahati along the north shore.

I was to Assam this summer and I visited Kaziranga and Guwahati. (Also paid a quick visit to Shillong) Dihplu River Lodge just outside Kaziranga is warmly recommended. (jungletravelsindia dot com for more information concerning this.)
In Guwahati, they have some pretty nice places. Getting up on one of those hills to see the view over the city is just stunning!
