Upper Assam
I am a backpacker with a lot of travel experience in India. I was already in the Upper Assam in 2006 (Jorhat; Majuli; North Lakhimpur; Sibsagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Digboi, Ledo).
But this year (late November/December) I and my travelmate (also male) we will travel all the way up to Saikhoa Ghat; Sadiya; Kerimgaon - bordering Arunachal (Dibang Valley) => but not entering Arunachal. After we would like to travel all the way down through the area sandwiched between the northern Brahmaputra riverbank and the Arunachal Pradesh frontier. In this area we would like to travel as the local people do, by local boat to the Chors (sandbanks), by riksaw, by tempo. We would like to go back to basic !!! But at this moment we do not know what are the travel possibilities in this area of the Upper Assam. Are there any roads, raillines or is this area only flood area without any road infrastructure ? Maybe somebody of you can give us some information about this area sandwiched between the northern Brahmaputra riverbank and the Arunachal Pradesh frontier. And last but not least, is it allowed to travel as an independent traveler in this area without any permit (we shall not entering Arunachal) ? |

HI prutske
those areas ( sadiya and saikhowa ghat, kemirgaon is in borderline of assam and arunachal pradesh. that place is very nice,.. you can go there by bus also from guwahati regular buses to saikhwa ghat and other side of the gaht also buses.. but in remote village areas no bus.. only riksows and tempos and bicycle.. because of border as well as terroist activities in that place.. it is not easy to go to remote ares.. you donot need permit..when you arrive sadiya you should asked local police for latest situation.. i thnik.... |
