travel to Manipur - too dangerous?

My husband and I have a very dear friend who is getting married in Ukhrul, 80km from the Imphal, the capital of Manipur. The wedding is in the middle of November. Because of the recent blast that killed 17 near Imphal and the instability of the state, we are not sure if we should go to the wedding.

I do not know if it makes a difference, but we are Americans of Chinese descent, so we would most likely physically blend in with everyone else. And, we would be staying in private homes instead of hotels.

I welcome your thoughts and comments.

Hm. Don't know what to advise. Hopefully others will.

Manipur isn't said to be the most stable of states there no. Check http://www.alertnet.org/db/crisispro...tm?v=in_detail (scroll around that page's different tabs, as well as that site's [Reuters's] general current and ongoing news sections), that's just one take and may naturally be a little heavy on the danger side of it all, can give some good backgrounds though.
