It is so encouraging to see how many of our native Indian members have such positive input, as it is their country which we foreigners love.

Plan to get there feb/march 2010, from Calcutta, another wonderful City. So benign
Assuming this Q was for me:

We did Sikkim, Bhutan & Arunachal in 17 days .... I would have loved 2 months for this tour ... but I was a *prisoner-passenger* in a crazy Roadie's (HVK) Scorpio and it was he who was driving the schedule and the scorpio!

PS: I managed to get off at Guwahati Airport .... he is now dashing to Koteshwar, near Bhuj ... at this hour in Udaipur.

BTW: Calcutta is a wonderful city ... I know, as I lived there the first 24 years of my life.

.

PS: Sorry, crossposted ... the Q was for Theyyam!

KS and TMD

Thanks, naughty of me not to direct the question to one person.

All suggestions welcome.

2000 I was in Assam, alone, and amazed at the Bramaputra. What a mighty river, then up to Shillong, not really Scotland, as was it not the Welsh who translated their language and gave them the check cloth.

What an amazing view over the escarpment at Cherrapunje into Bangladesh.

2008 we managed to get to Kalimpong when the bund was on.

Had prebooked train tickets and luckily were allowed on the road on the only day it was not blockaded.

Thank you dzibead.

If anyone is wondering (and I also am wondering) why I have split this Trip Report into 3 and called it the Arunachal Trilogy instead of giving a neat report in one orderly flowing narrative, then the explanation ...

The mountains and gorges of Arunachal Pradesh are like that only.
