Hi, I am quite envious! I went to Tawang recently and wrote about it here on IM. What is it you want to know exactly and I will try to help.

Well, let's see, there was an excellent internet cafe in Tawang. As you arrive, on the main square, there is a sign. You go upstairs and a charming girl has the internet and she has - very important - her own generator. So when the rest of Tawang is blacked out she still has a connection.

Places to see, other than the obvious Tawang Monastery:

. the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama, the Urgelling Gompa, 6km away from the town. You will have to ask for directions. It is wonderful. Hardly any visitors. You need to insist that you want it unlocked for you.

. Gyangong Anigompa, home to Buddhist nuns. We did not manage to visit there due to shortage of time.

. Thukje Chueling Anigompa, another Buddhist nunnery which we did not visit either, but wished we had done so.

. N.B. When you are visiting the main Tawang Monastery, do not miss viewing the 'footprints' of the 'monk who carried water'.

. Directly above the footprints, the Library of the monastery, where some very valuable manuscripts are kept. A small boy showed us around.

I have no clue since I don't have a mobile phone. I think that connections are abysmal. If I remember correctly, our guide was able to use his mobile properly only at the Hans Pawan Helipad. Also at the Monastery - but with interruptions - yes, I remember that.

We stayed at the Tawang Inn. It was OK. Frequent power cuts though.

I can't tell you where you might use your own computer. I shall try to find out.

Strongly recommended - on your way up to Tawang - is the Hotel Pemaling in Dirang. The owner is a Monpa and will regale you with lots of stories.

I just spoke to a friend who knows Tawang well. He said:

There is one internet cafe located near the main taxi stand but I think it will be closed as the owner might visit His Holiness at that time. The alternate is to get the post paid connection of MTNL and use the data card to access his e.mail.

Thanks. Can you also ask your Friend.

Which Mobile connection should i immediately buy which can get me the GPRS connection. The only thing seem possible is Mobile Internet.

Updates on That, which sim card to buy( which company - Airtel, Bsnl), are they easily available, where to buy in Tawang.

This Internet thing is worrying me a lot.

Can i meet someone who can guide me friendy and tell me all the things when i reach there.

Thanks
