sonepur mela 2008 dates?

I found a 13 Nov start date online, but haven't been able to confirm (I emailed one of the India tourist offices but got n response). Does anyone know? thanks

it will start from first full moon of november

.by road u can reach to sonpur.from patna u can take buses but u can pick up train there.for women traveller train is safer than buses

Or you can get a train to Sonepur or Hajipur, though these stations are on the north of the Ganges river and train connections are more complex, where will you be travelling from?

I'm planning to hit the Pushkar camel fair beforehand. Don't mind some complexities in connections.

Are you planning on going direct by train between Pushkar and Sonepur? (not stopping of for a few days along the route)

Triple check dates for the Sonepur mela, when I researched the mela I understood that it's dates were decided by the same events as the Pushkar camel fair, yet one started a couple of days before the other (I can't remember what one started first), I couldn't understand why they started on different days, I'm sure it's easy to get the correct date for Pushkar, so maybe call Bihar tourism to confirm the first days of the Sonepur mela.

Sonepur mela open the day of Kartikha Purnima, 15 days after the festival of Divali (28th October), that means 13th November.

I think the mela of Pushkar is celebrated the same day. I've been in 2006 in Sonepur Mela and my advice is to stay there the first day of the festival (13th Nov), after few days the mela goes on but is not the same, not so many elephants and few naga sadhu moving around.

Go to Patna and take a taxi or bus to Hajipur/Sonepur is only half an hour or something like that.

I found the similar info about Pushkar starting a few days before Sonepur Mela, but I've seen various dates about Sonepur. If I had to pick one it would be Sonepur. My Enfield trip will be ending about that time so I will be in Kolkata in mid-Nov. Easiest would be Bihar.
