Shimla/Sarahan vs Almora/Kausani vs Darjeeling/Pelling. Help!
Hi guys,
I've got one week to spend between one of these pairs of places in the Himalayas and I can't decide which is best. Please help. Getting there isn't an issue but once there I'm looking for good views of snow caps, interesting day trips (monasteries, temples etc) and - as much as possible - hassle free travel between the places. It would be great to hear from those with experience of these things/places. Time wise I'm looking at the first week of October if that helps in terms of where will have the best views. Really hope someone can help!!

Hi,
I've heard that after monsoon, so October, is best time to go to these places but I've also heard reports of people being there a week and it just being damp and getting no view. I realise it's quite unpredictable but does anyone know, are the chances of clear views better at one place than the other at the beginning of october? |

thanks,
I've decided I'm actually gonna do Shimla/Sarahan and maybe Kalpa too as I'm coming from Rajasthan and with a bit of careful planning can fit my whole time together quite nicely with this arrangement. |

good you have decided. shimla sarahan is a nice option, from shimla you can go to sarahan via Kufri, Fagu, Narkanda Rampur, night stay in Rampur. i guess you can drive to manikaran as well but the road condition is supposed to be bad.

hi,
Yeah, I had thought about heading up to Kullu and Manali but that wouldn't be possible with Sarahan too and after 3 weeks around places like Khajuraho, Agra, Udaipur and Jodhpur I think I might be ready for a few more peaceful days and I hear Manali is pretty crowded, especially in October. Plus I only have one week from arriving in Shimla before I gotta go back to Delhi and fly to the UK. |
