Beautiful.
Not only coz my wife was born there. ![]() Question for anybody who may know: In view of recent incidents in Assam, how safe is this belt (Assam/Meghalaya) for a visit by people belonging to other states? |

Shillong is totally safe for tourists. Just do not indulge in any altercation with the locals.

No worries there. Insurgents there have a track record of targetting only poor labour class people.
Anyway tourists are never in trouble if they do not indulge in political discussions. Unless one is dealing with taxi-drivers. |
