Shillong : How to Reach ? What to do ?

My family is planning to go to Shillong, and no one has any clue about the place.

I welcome any kind of information that anyone can share in relation to Shillong.

The basic thing first, hot to reach there ?

Buses also operate on this route. But hiring a car will be the best option. From what I have read drop to Shillong from Guwahati should cost around Rs. 1200 or so. Cherapunjee is a must visit place. Day trip is possible from Shillong.

For the past one month I have come across some 5 - 6 write up in different news papers & magazines about Meghalaya & was very much impressed with the state & would love to visit but I know it will not be in near future.

Have been to Shillong years back
You get buses and share a taxis outside guwahti station.
Since you are three of you you can work out if share a taxi makes a lot of difference vis a vis a full one.In share a taxi no return charge is paid.
Reg what to see soak up the atmosphere of the place .it is considedred to be Scotland of the East.
