PADI Course in Kavaratti (Lakshadweep)

Hi

I am planning to take up a PADI Openwater course early next year & have short listed Lakshadweep or Andamans. The most economical of the lot seems to be the one offered by SPORTS in Kavaratti (15 K for the course + 1K Per day for food & acco + 3.5K for travel) at about 25K all inclusive. This beats everything by a time & half in terms of affordability. Unfortunately, i have not come across a single review, positive or negative, about this course anywhere (online or in magazines).

If any of you have gone diving with them, can you please give your impression?

Thanks in advance
Cheers

Hey... A late reply without any suggestion or opinion about the course but just a question

Did you ever get around to completing the course?

I'm asking coz I'm thinking of taking up a PADI course as well. But I'm not sure where... Any insight you could provide would be great!

Hey there

Havent done it yet. Spent some time in Kanha national park instead. Planning to do it later in the year.

I cant find much info anywhere on Kavaratti. Other places in Lacs are so expensive that they make Maldives seem reasonable. Am now debating between Andamans or Thailand. Plenty of options there & can probably finish the whole thing for about 35K all inclusive in either of these places.

My friend who did visit Lacs late last year give me info on some guy who organizes trips from Mumbai. He said this person seemed very knowledgable about Lacs in general & visits that place multiple times a year. If you are interested, i could dig up that info & pass it on to you.

Cheers

Hi there!

Thanks for the swift response. Kanha is lovely, so I'm sure you had a great time.

Don't worry about digging up info... I'm just debating places right now and Andamans seems more likely. Although I do appreciate and offer and might bug you later for info

All the Best with your plans. Seeya!

Are you talking about
http://www.flyingmantas.com/

Accomodation is certainly cheaper in Andamans than Lakshadweep. However the course fees would be at par. Reg. transportation since Andamans is three days by ship people prefer flying which will be costlier as compared to Lakshadweep by ship just one night away.

Hey Ronak,

Boy! What pics in that site. Makes you want to jump right into the ocean. Thanks for the link. I will touch base with them for their April batch & see what they are all about. Do you have an idea of how good these guys are to do a diving course with? Have you dived with them?

You are right on the comparisions between Andamans & Lacs. Andamans still comes out cheaper inspite of the air fare.

Cheers

ps. This isnt the guy that i was talking of.

Yes the website certainly looks impressive. No i haven't dived with them but have read some articles on them in the local newspapers.

When you find time do post details about the guy you are talking about.

Ronak,

The guy's name is Sulakhe Shauri - cell 09822295057. He frequently travels on group escorted tours to Lacs so he might not be reachable at times. I dont have an email address.
