I am new to the India Travel Forum, but am interested in traveling into northeastern India sometime this fall. I don't mind spending some money on transport but travel low budget for accommodations and food.
Has anyone been able to travel in a loop from Tezpur (Guwahati) first up the Arunachal Pradesh side of the Brahmaputra River via Itanagar and Ziro to the Along area and potentially as far as either Tuting or Anini (with proper permits assumed)? Then continue on south toward Nagaland but cross by ferry near Dibrugarh in Assam, then down the other side of the river back to Tezpur area or even into Meghalaya before heading back to Guwahati? The question is a bit of "blue skying" to see what is possible and not. If someone has actually been into the far north east (save Nagaland which seems to require large group permits), your information would be greatly appreciated. If this requires a travel agent, any suggested local operators would also be appreciated especially for permitting and transport. Thanks in advance. GK. |
