As suspected, the line between Gondia and Balaghat has been closed since January for broad gauge conversion.

You will be best to go via Jabalpur; the line from Jabalpur to Nainpur is operating normally.

There are more trains to Jabalpur than I listed, the train to Gondia was so well timed for an overnight journey, and had a good connection at Gondia.

I will list all the possibilities to Jabalpur sometime today.

If you like to visit Bandhavgarh instead of Kanha
then take train
1071 KAMAYANI EXPRES *BHUSAVAL JN 19:30 KATNI 09:50
Or same train from Jalgaon 18.53 Hrs.
From Katni Bandhavgarh is 120 Km.

Stevan way ( By train)
Katni to Umaria by train and from Umaria to Tala ( entry point of Forest ) by Road 30 k.m. For Local Train timing you have to check with Timi table.

Make sure you visit the Bibi Ka Maqbara and Dalautabad fort as well when your in Aurungabad.
The Bibi Ka Maqbara (or poor man's Taj) is one the best examples of Moghul architecture on the Deccan. Dalautabad is a superb fort as well.
