very nice pics Ashish.
I'm in the very early stages of planning a trip in December/January 2007/08 to either Lakshadweep or Andaman Islands. I take it you flew from Cochin to Lakshadweep? Who runs the flights there and how much is the approximate cost? How long did you stay there and is there anything else to do there apart from snorkel/beach holiday stuff? |

I was in Lakshadweep with some friends in December and we all really loved it. The only way to fly there is from Cochin, only on Indian Airlines, and it costs about $400 (US dollars) for the flight. I think we stayed for 3 nights and were happy to move on after that. It's very beautiful and relaxing, but if you're not into snorkeling, diving, boat trips, etc, then there isn't really anything else, per se, to do other than just relax. But if you stay on Agatti island you can take a very interesting walk or bike trip to the other tip of the Island where Agatti town is. That's worth the little trip because it's an interesting contrast to the tourist resort.

Thanks Tapestry. Although I don't mind seeing beaches, they're not really for me for a longish stay. Looks like I'll have a serious look at the Andamans instead. Once again, thanks.

Hi Ashish,
Do you have any pictures showing how does the first class cabin look like (not the deluxe class which are only 4). Could you share them with me please. I am planning a trip but not sure how good the cabins really are. Thanks Warm Regards, Yashraj Quote:

I do not have the pics.
but personally would prefer the seating arrangments. I am especially discussing "Tipu Sultan". The seating arrangment is in a far better condition. Fully A/c. The seats are more comfortable than aircrafts. Secondly, out of 120 seats only a dozen are occupied, that's it. So you can laze around. PLus they are half the cost. But, mind you, if you are on package "CORAL REEF", wherein you have to spend all nights on the ship than, you must go for a cabin. And the most importantly, this is not a luxury cruise liner, so don't expect too much. Just very basic, but ofcourse a/c is the only facility. No sea view from the cabin. |

That crab shot is a cracker! Brilliant!
So I guess 'Tipu Sultan' is the ship? How expensive is a ticket, and how early you have to book them? I really fancy spending a few days there - two nights probably - early December 07. Any thoughts? PS: googled, and figured out tickets are 2000 INR for tourist class, and 4000 for cabin class. thanks, Ashok. |

Hello Ashish - just caught this thread now and enjoyed your new pictures! i sent you a comment a while ago because I chose one of your photos for my desktop and it is still there - it was sulphur rock at Lakshadweep. I really like this photo - and as I said I live in such a hot dry place, it makes me feel cool when I first open up my computer! So, a BIG thank you for it and publishing it here.
