Without ILP I think it's not possible to enter ..
For 13 people u have to take 2 sumo's probably.. Nameri is NAtional park and there is an eco camp (I don't have much idea about it).. Dirang can be a halt if u r going from Ghy..Instead of taking the ILP in Tezpur u can get it in Ghy .. Then directly u can go upto Bomdila or Dirang(whatever suits u) and then next day to Tawang .. We stayed at the Eco Camp at Nameri a few years ago.
It's a tented camp (deluxe tents with bathrooms) set in a nice enclosure - good food, good birdwatching, fishing in the nearby river and a campfire in the evenings. I think Tezpur Angler's Club are involved with the Forest Department in the running of it.

Hi there, Firstly you haven't picked quite the right time to go to the Northeast. Be prepared for a lot of rains and hence a lot of landslides, especially on the route from Tezpur to Bomdilla. Bomdilla-Tawang is one sector in west Kameng district and to go to Itanagar-Ziro, you have to come down to Assam again and then move to Itangar and then on to Ziro. Then to go to Shillong from there, you have to come back all the way to Guwahati via Mongolodoi or cross the river from Tezpur and proceed to Shillong. Personally, I think the time is too short for you to cover so much. At best you can do, Shillong-Cherrapunji and then Guwahati-Tawang, though it still feels dicey, considering the road conditions on the way to Bomdilla (very landslide prone). Here is some idea of the distance: Ghy to Shillong - 2.5 - 3.5 hours Shillong to Cherrapunji - 2-3.5 hours Ghy - Bomdilla 10-12 hours Bomdilla to Tawang - 7-9 hours Ghy to Itanagar - 10-12 hours Itanagar to Ziro - 5-6 hours So, you see, one week is really not enough to do this, unless you want to really speed it up. I'd suggest leave Arunachal for another time, and just do Shillong-Cherrapunji and then come back to Guwahati and go on to Nameri Wildlife Sanctuary on the Assam-Arunachal border, and come back. If you want to have an idea of Tawang then check out some of my pics on a trip in October last year at http://boracho.fotopic.net You can also see the wild side of Arunachal during a friend's travels during April.. at http://www.60kph.com/photos/photogal...ast/east01.htm Hope this helps And good luck for your trip |

Dear Mountain Trekkers,
Monsoon hits North East in the firstweek of June, and if the programme as you are looking forward to is completed before that time, i beleive, you will not face any natural calamities, during your trip. But as said by Bora, it will be a tough ask to travel criss-crossed in the North East, as Arunachal lies in completely in Opposite direction to Meghalaya(Shillong & Cherrapunjee), so it is advisable to take up a tour to one single direction.
