| Elephant market Did anybody knows when it happen exactly? I have these clues: *)it is somewhere in Bihar(i am not sure it is in bihar or jharkhand) *)i think, it is in Sonepur. *)It should be sometime in Nov-Oct. Can anybody give me some more info what exactly happening over there? is just selling/purchasing elephants? |

| Do a google search for 'sonepur mela' It starts on the 7th November this year and lasts for about a month. Sonepur (in Bihar) is 25 Kms north of Patna, and just across the river from Hajipur. Many different animals are sold there, it's said to be the largest animal fair in Asia. Many people have wrote about their experiences, a google search will find some of them. How do I know about it? I've waited 3 years to get there, I will depart Rajamundry on the 5th of November and head to Patna, I can't wait, I'm so excited. |

| WOW! Elephant market!!! I've heard and seen enough of elephant festivals. A market for elephants…? I'm hearing for the first time. But I’m just not surprised. It's India after all.... |

| Thanks steven_ber. i was studying the history of Guruvayur kesavan(Elephant lovers don't confuse with valiya kesavan)..and other elephants. then i got to know he is not a kerala elephant. he had bought it from bihar on a market. on search of that i find out this. I was not sure it was sonepur mela.. Pushkar Mela is also seems the same time.. ha ha.. So i have to choose. |

| Do anybody knows the date for this year's sonepur mela? i googled it i did not find the exact date. i think it is on November 24th. |
