Cheapy in Bodhgaya during Mönlam?

Hi everybody,

I just discovered these wonderful sites. Thank you for that Mike. As I love India and I am retuning all the time...just the right place for me.

This december I plan again to attain at the Kagy Monlam, as I did last year as well. Last year I had many difficulties to get any room and the one I finnally found was much too expencive and noisy. So I tried to find any Budget room (500 RS max) via Internet. But there are only the big ones...Rahuls email is not working...

Is somebody just there and could make a reservation somewhere around the OM Cafe. Or had anybody a suggestion?

I would apreciate any kind of help.

Hope, my english is clear enough...

is from Dec. 17-27...many people are there for this big event. I went several times and always it has been difficult to find a reosonably priced guesthouse. This time of the year one has to pay between 500-1000 RS for a room which is 150-250 RS normaly. The only way is to find someone who does a advance booking and bargain hard...

I have been to India a lot and usually I know where I like to go. Most of the time I visit peoples...

visit my friedn's guest house-site

and tell him that Pantelis did the recomendation{i will be too in Bodhgaya but for the Nyingma Monlam}.Mr.Barua is an adorable young hindu-buddhist guy, very helpful .I always stay there since i really feel it like home. You could also use the kitchen and prepare your own meals and it is just 5 minutes from the Mahabodhi Temple but from the opposite side of Om Restaurant.Try it here:

Talking Thank you for your suggestion, pantelis

I will try it there. When are you there? I think that the Nyingma Mönlam is right before the Kagyu Monlam, isn´t it?

Where ever we will stay: It will again be a very inspiring time for all of us!

Best wishes

The NYingma Monlam is

on January, starts at 8: Commencement of Ten Day Great Nyingma Monlam at Bodh Gaya .I will be in Bodhgaya on 14th of January but just for 5 days , till the end of the Monlam.

Regarding the guest house, it is very clean, just 4 years old, attached bath in each room & i repeat Mr.Barua is a kind and helpful person, so do not hesitate asking him anything you like.Have a nice time in Bodhgaya my friend

Hi Pantelis/All,
Many thanks for your Bodhgaya accomodation recommendation as i'm also trying to find a cheap place to stay (preferably under Rs250)& i arrive in B'gaya on 9th Dec (& need a place to stay up to 22nd Dec). I checked the link you gave but i'm pretty sure it'll be full up (as its a Kagyu centre) as not many rooms and as its an extra busy Kagyu Monlam this year when i'm in Bodhgaya, so i'll try contacting them but if anyone else can please suggest anywhere else thats cheap but clean(ish)to stay in Bodhgaya (that i can pre-book), i'd be very grateful for any suggestions (phone and email & contact names if possible please)
Thanks and all the best,
TDK
