Good plan ... however usually they don't issue permit for Haa Valley at Phuntsholing ,they only issue permit for Paro & Thimpu at Phuntsholing which you need to get extend at Thimpu for other places.
So I suggest consider route like this : 1) Phuntsholing - Thimpu 2) Thimpu - Haa 3) Haa - Paro 4) Paro - Thimpu - Punakha - Wangdue Phodrang |

HI Swapnil,
Thanks. My concern is travel time. In case I need to go to Thimphu then I may drop Haa completely and do a Phuentsholing-Paro-Thimphu-Punakha-Wangdue-Phobjika. Cause Phuentsholing to Thimphu is like 180 kms(6-7 hrs) & i will loose the entire first half in transit. |

If your concern is travel time then instead of Bagdogra why don't you take flight to Paro from either Kolkata or Delhi
![]() You can do the same in return journey as well ... you'll save at least two days ! Also don't expect you'll be issued permit immediately at Phuntsholing border it at least takes 3-4 hours .Only after which you can begin your journey in Bhutan. If you flying to Paro then you'll be automatically issued permit for visiting Paro/Thimpu at Paro airport. |

Hello;
Druk air has introduced flights directly from Bagdogra to Paro that wil be cheaper and time saving. The road journey is not advisable as the road is under repair and might take more time than what you have planned. I suggest you take the flight. There is nothing to see in Phobjika now as the black necked cranes won't be there now, you can still do the Ha leg. Cater for a full day for Taksang in Paro. Otherwise your plan is perfect. Shankar |

Thanks Guys
Hi Swapnil & Vembushankar,Thanks for your advice. I have a different issue. I booked my tickets in the buy one get one free scheme and hence they are non cancellable. I however had kept one trip flexible i.e. from Bagdogra to Kolkata, and hence got this one postponed by a day (9th May instead of 8 may). (3500 bucks - total damage to 21k Mum-Kol-Bagdogra back & forth). There are some changes happening which i shall get to know soon. I might go to Birpara - jaldapara wildlife sanctuary - dharan in Nepal (for a social trip) and then resume my trip from 2nd or 3th. May need help once things crystallise. Thanks again. |
