Betla National Park
Anyone been to Betla National Park in Jharkhand? I'm considering going for a few days but it's hard to find first person accounts about the place. There's a train from Gaya(I'll be in Bodh Gaya in March) to the nearest rail station at Daltonganj-3 or 4 hours)but it leaves about midnight and gets there in the middle of the night.Travel in that area seems difficult.Would I be crazy to take a daytime bus there?

Train 3348 PALAMAU EXP leaves Gaya post midnight at 00:15 and reaches Daltonganj at 05:37 in just over 5 hrs, 22 min. to cover the 217km distance.
Betla is connected to Daltonganj (25 kms) via Khudia morh (6km). More at: http://www.indnav.com/servlet/Browse... National+Park www.indiagroove.com |

Came back from Betla in Jan. I would not recommend going there in this season. You will barely see anything (The park is overgrown with shrubs...they dry off only in summer). And the hotel there is really bad. And I would not travel there at night.
See my post at http://soumya.org. It will be a lot of effort for very little return. |
