Best Itinerary in Arunachal Pradesh.....
Hi friends,
Kindly suggest me the best itinerary for Arunachal Pradesh.... we would be travelling from Kolkata for 10 days in the first week of October, tentatively..... also, please throw some light on hotel rates,ILP, places of interest, etc. Can we keep Shillong en route ??? Waiting for your valuable inputs.......

arrival Gauhati,then to
Tezpur-Bhalukpong-Bomdila-Tawang-Bumla Pass-Dirang and back or -via Sela Pass to Dirang or Bomdial-Dirang-Sapper-Sela Pass-Tawang. no star hotel available...rate should be Rs700/- to 1500/- You have to take a vehicle for the TOUR and the most important you need an Internal Travel Permit for visit to AP. |

En route to Tawang don't miss Nameri Eco camp.
And Abhijit.s, afaik Tawang comes after Dirang or is it a different route you are talking about? About Shillong, you can take detour from Guwahati to go to shillong. You can leave early morning and back same day if you are going only to Shillong. But if you want to include Cherra(Cherrapunji) then better to have a night halt at Shillong. |

You can also alternatively directly go to Bomdila without halting at Tezpur. Your itineary can be Guwahati-Bhalukpong-Bomdila-Dirang-Sela Pass-Tawang. For night stays Bomdila or Bhalukpong is ideal with easy availability of hotels other than tawang.
Hotel rates generally depend on tourist inflow. You can expect above Rs 500. ILP will be required which you can get from Calcutta or Guwahati with the Arunachal embassy, which generally takes 3-4 days but sometimes may be more. It is rush time and it would be better to book in advance as I found it very difficult to get accomodation booking in Tawang, almost all the hotels were booked. We have applied for ILP in Arunachal Bhawab, Saltlake and hope to get it on 30th September. Tell me if you need anything else. |
