Assam & Meghalaya during March
Dear Friends,
I want to visit Guwahati/Kaziranga/Shillong-Cherrapunjee during March 2009, with family. I will fly to Guwahati from Mumbai. Please give me the following information: 1) Some Decent Hotels in Guwahati (Budget within Rs. 1200/-) 2) Some Decent Hotels in Shillong (Budget within Rs. 1200/-) 3) Some Decent Hotels in Kaziranga (Budget within Rs. 1500/-) 4) Cost of Jeep Saffari & elephant saffari at Kaziranga and their booking procedure. 5) Cost of Journeys (preferably by individual non-AC Indica car) in Guwahati-Shillong, Shillong-Kaziranga and Kaziranga-Guwahati routes. 6) Whether it is better to book package with some tour operators? Regards |

At kaziranga, Wild Grass resort used to be good and should be within your budget. Do book the rooms at Kaziranga in advance. There are government Hotels at kaziranga, which are decent and well within your budget.
The 1 hour Elephant Safari costs around Rs 275 per person. The park charges Rs50 for cameras and Rs500 for camcorder. Don't exactly know about the jeep safari, but it should be below Rs1500. My suggestion for transportation would be to get taxis once you get there. There is ample scope for bargain. There is no need to for a packaged tour if you can get the accomodations sorted out beforehand. Last edited by Reemus : Jan 13th, 2009 at 19:50. Reason: . |

Meghalaya Tourism Dept office at the Guwhati has a list of hotels.
Staying is Shillong and traveling to these places is an options. A few details of what is covered by MTDC is available here http://prayaan.blogspot.com/2009/02/cherrapunjee.html http://prayaan.blogspot.com/2009/02/...meghalaya.html |
