Arunachal or Sikkim in May end or early June?

Hi friends,
I am thinking of going to the mountains in the summer. Due to some holiday constraints, I can not start until May end. I can tour in the last week of May or early June.
I was contemplating a tour to Arunachal Pradesh as I have never been to that part. My travel plans include Bhalukpong, Bomdilla, Dirang and Tawang. My concern is that whether I can travel there in May end, especially Tawang. Will the Sela pass be open at that point of time? And what will be the weather condition? Will there be any restriction due to monsoon?

If Arunachal is not possible, my back up plan is for Sikkim. I have been to Sikkim a couple of times. Been to Gangtok and North Sikkim as well as Pelling and Rabangla. So I was searching for a new destination. Read somewhere about a place called Zuluk. Will that be possible at that time. If so can anyone please set up an itinerary for 5-6 days starting and ending at NJP?

Arunachal / Sikim both can be managed in May end but we all are aware of vigorous monsoon of North East and monsoon sets in much earlier there than other parts of India, so you would definitely expect cloudy sky, poor visibility and not clear sky with great mountain views. Also anywhere between Bhalukpong to Tawang, roads can be closed due to excessive rains and land slides.

But Sikim won't be any different either in terms of weather in End May / Begin June.

But then again one can enjoy rain in mountains as well, so it depends on how you would like that, but be prepared for some unschedule stop and delay.

On Zuluk, off late found couple of excellent trip reports in IM, it's very much possible to cover the area in 5/6 days but again main attraction of Zuluk, the view of kanchangangha won't be that great during the time you are planning.

Hmm. I inquired other sources and they also told me that May end may not be very ideal to visit either of the two places.
Can anyone suggest any other hilly place to visit in May end where monsoon will not be a spoil sport. We went to Kumaon last summer and the weather was pretty good, so I think it doesn't rain that much in all places at that time.

Shift towards west, concentrate on HP or J&K, it won't be raining in May for sure except a few unseasonal WD. Kinnaur would be an ideal place unless you already have visited that.

Arunachal in May is a good time to visit the place. You can very expect a very little of rain during May.
And the Tawang route is indeed a good option. May also makes all the many waterfalls in Meghalaya come alive, so Meghalaya would also be a great option.

Planning to visit Arunachal and Cherrapunji in June first week.. Please suggest about the weather conditions...
