Advice for Lakshadweep ==> KADMAT isl.

Hi,
I am looking for information about KadmatIsland, especially the resort there (really the only one?).
I meanwhile surfed through all these webpages (either by SPORTS, Lakshadweep Administration or travel agents or ...) but would like to get some first hand information about Kadmat Island.
Regards
Frank

Advice for Lakshadweep ==> KADMAT isl.

Hi,
thanks for quick reply.
I already know the suggested thread and the link ...
If Kadmat is open for foreign nationals or not is another story,
I don`t worry about this in my case ...
I´m just looking for some first hand information about the resort and the island prior to my visit.
Regards
Frank

Dear Frank

Even, I have booked for a 6 days / 5 nights package to Kadmat this december end.
Now, the only resort, i.e kadmat resort is owned by govt of india. There are two ways you can visit this island. One either through SPORTS holiday package i.e Marine wealth awareness package for 6 days / 5 nights, the information of which is available on their website www.lakshadweeptourism.com ; along with the ship schedules. The contact details mentioned in the website have changed to laksports_2004@vsnl.net

Their new contact no is 91 - 484 - 2666789
This number is quite busy, so u gotta keep trying and could speak to Mr. Shahbudhhin ( Booking officer ) or Mr.Mohammed ( Assistant General Manager ). They are employees of govt of india, & the right people to book your package or visit.

Now, the second option is through www.lacadives.com . Even this package of kadmat island is through SPORTS, but the stay can be prolonged at the island depending upon the suba diving package you choose.

Yes, you got it right - you book your package through lacadives, only when your are keen on doing serious scuba diving, say a 8day course, etc.

Hope, this satisfies your queries.

Cool Lakshadweep

Having been to the Lakshadweep Islands 4 times in the last 5 years I have got to know them fairly well. Khadmat does allow NRI's and whle they do a lot of dive packages it is not necessary ro do an 8 day course. We go to Bangaram and then go to Khadmat for 3 nights before returning to Khadmat. In general the accommodation on Khadmat is basic but the diving superb (you do not have to be a serious diver - just have a love for marine life. It is remote and there is nothing else to do on the island - - no problem there!. Both Khadmat and Bangaram are not cheap but the diving is excellent (the dive guys are some of the best. Numbers of tourists are limited on both islands. To get there you fly to Agatti and then take a boat. There is a steamer that goes to Agatti but is not to be reccommended. As the plane is a small dornier it gets booked up ear ly especially over Christmas.
If you want a holiday where you can dive or chill out completely Bangaram is the best place in the world and it is half the price of the Maldives!!!! However don't expect 5 star accommodation but who needs it on a paradise island. The food is excellent and the staff very friendly.
