a modest proposal
A modest proposal for a 3.5 week trip to central India . . .
ok, 24 days . . . ARR Mumbai, train the next day to aurangabad (4 days) train/car to Kanha/Bandavgavgar (6 days) car to Kajuraho/kalinjar/ajaigarh (3 days) car to deogar/chanderi (near Lalitpur)(3 days) train to gwalior/agra/bharatpur (4 days) train to Nizzamuddin, Humayun's tomb and Indiamike meetup (2 days) and back to Terminatorville sick, late, lazy, or bollywood tour in Mumbai (2 days) all days include the travel time TO the destination to the left of the parenthesis Been to Orchha and Jhansi, don't feel the need to revisit, and dont need them as base for chanderi or deogar as they both have little rest houses. I bet they are somnolescent li'l dustbins, prolly old dak bungalows, but no matter. what? am I way off here or what? I am mostly referring to timing, as I have prety much decided these are the places I wanna go. I would add Chitrakoot and Mahoba if I had time, and drop Agra if Begum BiJ wasn't insisting. Beware the powers of the Zenana! Gwalior is just a day trip whilst passing thru. After all, it's one h3llova fort! Bharatpur is for the birds, but it may be first week in March when we get there, so might forget it if it is, as most of the big hang-gliders will have gone, methinks. Might be able to push trip up a week or so to start first week of feb. As on can see, the theme of the trip is "the forts and wildlife of MP, "with Ellora/Ajanta thrown in. It's taken me 33 years to get to Khana/Bandavgar, so I reckon I better do em both while I can. No time for marble rocks, alas.

Sounds great, and the timings look good too, I am jealous, and look forward to your opinions of these places.
Good luck. |
