Hey, I've just been to Similipal National Park in nthn Orissa for three days and need to warn everyone that it is no longer R100 a day for the foreigners entry permit(as per the Lonely Planet, Rough Guide and the lips of many Orissa Tourism officers). It is now a whopping R1000 a day! Or R40 for Indian nationals. So if you are staying at a lodge for two nights, that's R3000 for the permit alone - plus the cost of the jeep (grossly inflated for foreigners), guide fee, driver permit etc. It was too late for me to turn back and it cost me almost R8000 for a three-day trip - learn from my mistake
