| Rath Yatra in Puri I'm going to be in India this summer from the beginning/middle of June to the middle/end of September, and am interested in checking out some cool festivals, etc. Does anyone know what the dates are for the Rath Yatra in Puri, Orissa this year? Those of you who have gone before, what did you think? Worth it? Suggestions? Also, does anyone know of any other particularly cool festivals going on during that time period? Thanks a lot! This forum has been EXTREMELY useful for planning my trip. You guys are great!! |

| For those who are interested, I found out the dates for the Rath Yatra for 2003, thanks to a helpful guesthouse staffer. The festival commences on July 1st. The return festival for the chariots is nine days later. If anyone else is going to be there for it this year, send me a private message, and maybe we can meet up |

| Fascinating, why oh why did i ask, the last thing i need is a reason to go to India in July, hmmm 10 weeks away. I suppose accomodation will be hard to come by, Balighai looks to be about 10 - 12 km away, will accomodation be available there? How do i stop refuring to him as Lord 'Jugannaut'? |
