Orissa: with a travel agency or individually?

Hello,

We're going to Orissa in January 2006. This will be our 3rd travel to India - in those previous travels (Rajasthan and South India), we travelled on our own (by bus, by train), and we visited different cities without any guides. This time, we'd like to visit some tribal markets in Orissa, as well as some natural parks and "sanctuaries". We seem to understand that it might be preferable to hire a car with a driver-guide, as the transport in those places is not well developped and it might be difficult to go there individually.
Is it true? Do we really have to have a guide and a hired car?
And, if so, do you know any reliable, serious and not very expensive travel agencies or private guides?
We will appreciate any of your suggestions.

Thanks.

If you only are interested in Bhubaneshwar, Puri, Konarak, Chilika lake tec you can do it better on your own. For the tribal visits I reccommend a travel agent for traveling with car and driver, is probably the only way to really visit the lost tribal hamlets.

For several reasons, long to explain now, the best guide is Mr Sarat Acharya, he is partner of:
