Orissa

I am so curious what people find of Orissa.
In all guidebooks they just explain a little of Orissa. We are going in December and around Christmas we have the tribal tour.
Who can tell me anything about Orissa and what are the musts and don'ts?

i ve been to orissa this year in march ,april and I liked it very much, very nice and friendly people, but I didn t spent much time there, just visiting Bhubaneshwar for the shiva ratri festival, which was very interesting and very intense,Puri which I didn t like so much, too many travellers and tourist,I absolutely loved chandipur,
konark was Ok,and also the sweltering heat was coming,so I had to leave for the mountains,
in bhubaneswar I met a french professor travelling only in Orissa
for 6 months!!!!
he was so full of storys about small places you even couldn t find on the map, most of his time he spent in "studying" the tribal people,so I could have spent weeks just listening to him and all his adventures,
"every little tribe village has his own custodys and behaviours,
I could stay 6 months in every village he said"
I guess this guy lost his heart to orissa..
and also most people I met liked Orissa very much..
you re making an organized tribal tour???
this french man told me just go for it..on your own...
be polite and respect the people...
too many tribal people are loosing their identity...

enjoy orissa!!!

Hi Paan, thanks for your reply. Yes we are doing it organised. Just a mather of not having so much time and make full use of the time so we do not have to bother about transport and accomodation. To explain a bit more we are travelling with a small group of the Netherlands starting in Kolkata and then up to Orissa. It is also a low budget trip. After three weeks we decided to stay a few days in the neighboorhood of Mumbai. Probably Murud.
