Orissa in August. Should I go?
Hello my freinds,
a friend of mine told me to go to Orissa in August, because the monsoon won't be so hard there. Is it right? he told me to go to Puri, for the beaches...So should I go? And what about the bang in Orissa, is it legal there? Thanks for your answers Bye |

Hi Redswordfish,
I've been in Orissa but not in August. It seems is not the best time to stay there because the rains are quite hard and the roads, normally very bad, becames a nightmare (connoisseurs said). Bhang in Orissa is only legal in some special places near Lord Jaggannath Temple (it is prepared with lassi and some juice from an special fruit called bell in the village of Kumbra Poda) |

Hey, The drive from Bhubaneswar to Puri to Konark is really pleasant during monsoon. By August, the monsoon will set in fully.
Still, I suggest you make the trip in August. Bhang...Here is my tip. Go to Kedar Gouri temple in the old city area of Bhubaneswar. There is a little juice shop next to it that mixes bhang with tropical fruits. The best one would be the local fruit called "bel" (Wood Apple). Simply earthy. Bhang is not illegal. That is what I always tell my friends.

About bhang...
what does it make you feel exactly? and for how long? does it give you the feeling like you are 'high' for a while or something? |

Bhang , best discription i have heard is that it takes the edges of ,makes things a little easier . Bhang lassies now thats a different thing ,they can take your feet away from under you and leave you disabled for days .

Excellent. You know whats ironic? I was born in Puri. My grandmother used to eat bhang with her paan. Anyways now I am really looking forward to go back to Orissa to try this Bhang for the first time. Can't wait to get the bhang lassi in puri and head up to the beach and eat some rolls

I was in Puri 4 weeks ago, and my friend had a half bhang lassi (he is a strong weed-smoker). He was super-stoned for 14 hours and was nearly going mad...
But enjoy you can also smoke weed in puri...and avoid "toilet beach"! |

What's the weather like in Orissa in October?
I visited Orissa 25 years ago in mid September and weather was fantastic - but some people say I was lucky. Regards, Krzysztof Wozniak, Australia |

In a year, two or three times I travel to Puri ( from Bhubaneswar ) some time in rainy seasons. Here rain does not interrupt traffic on the road or rail unless it is a big cyclone. One can still go round places and enjoy the beaches of Puri and Konark in the months of August.
