dear captain.
Sonali is right on the busiest beach of Puri and middle range.
However go beyond that beach cross the swargdwar area..then u find hotels with realtively cleaner beach.
Or else move to CT road for western flavour.

Captain Neel, there are so many hotels in Puri, it's impossible to recommend without knowing what kind of accommodation you want -- everything from Rs50 to Rs10,000..... maybe it would be best for you to travel to CT Road and have a look at a few hotels yourself. There are plenty which are close to the beach.

i have always stayed in mayfair or panthanivas .... both are very clean and very nice hotels .. may fair is quite expensive panthanivas is very good as well .. mayfair is more for pampering yourself in a hotel and panthanivas is to enjoy puri rather than the hotel experience

I hope they have not renovated it.

We came back one night and our neighbour, who was from Orissa but had lived in Europe for years, had arranged Jagannath prasad for the entire staff, for everyone and we joined them, sitting in one of the big verandahs.

We stayed at the BNR (as the railway hotel is now called, after "Bengal National Railways") in November.

It is still as wonderful and quirky as ever (last there in late '90s). Good size rooms, quiet, lovely and breezy on the upstairs verandah. The woman in the office is a bit surly, but the other staff were friendly and helpful.

Hi

Try Puri Hotel. When I was going to Puri, many of my friends recommended Puri Hotel. I research & found their website in wikitravel.

http://wikitravel.org/en/Puri
http://www.purihotel.in/

In Wikitravel, you will get most of the popular hotels in Puri websites. I hope this will help yo to find a suitable & affordable hotels in PURI.

Happy Journey & don't forget to share your travel experiences.

BNR- Bengal Nagpur Railways. AC Room with triple beds will cost you around 1200 Rs. and you will will immediately feel at home. It is probably the oldest hotel in Puri. However parts of it were being renovated during Jan this year when we went. However we had a fine time.

If you are going with parents i would suggest Mayfair as it is the most comfortable stay one can have in Puri. However from last i remember it used to cost Rs.5000 for a double bed room last year around June.
