Help - Need advice on getting to Puri

Can somebody please help us as we are hoping to go from Kolkata to Puri. What is the best way to go. Can we hire a driver and what would this cost or are we better to catch the train. If the train is better can we pick up our tickets before we get to Kolkata, say in Varanassi or Agra. And what station in Kolkata does it leave from.

Thanks

Night train is good between Kolkata and Puri. I don't remember which station it leaves from, but your ticket will tell you and you can pick it up in whichever city you like as long as the railwaystation has a computerized booking office. Have a good trip, Puri is really nice, and so is Kolkata.

Chandra, going to Puri in a few weeks

Hi..to reach Puru u have many trains from Kolkatta. If you want to avoid night journey then try Dhauli express which arrives on Bhubaneswar at Midday and take a cab to Puri 65 kms on road.
Night trains are Jagannath express,Puri express, and so on.
Avoid tauts on platform at Puri.
Take a hotel of ur choice.
If you happen to be at CT road, dont complain about the fushing village garbage,

Cheers and have peace.

A convenient train is the Srijagannath Express, which leaves from Howrah Jn. station daily at 18=35 and reaches Puri at 05=05 the next day.

You can book for this train from Agra or Varanasi; in fact from any of the computerised reservation offices in the country.
