Discourse on Car Festival at Rangers

Hi members,

We are arranging a discourse on CAR Festival of Puri( otherwise known as CHARIOT festival or RATH YATRA).
Date is 15 th July.Evening 6 PM.
It aims at providing a curtain raiser for those who get confused in this cultural colors of crowd.The discourse will help to understand the ritual mysteries of the entire festival.
Venue: Rangers adventure foundation.
We have transport arrangement from Puri to the venue and back.

Puri is bustling with crowds from all aprts of India for a spiritual madness of the Lord Jagarnnath.

We are on way to find the ant like rush of vehicles to puri town from every side of highways.

There are Imers like xxx from xxx staying at Puri now.Others if there can buzz me for a meet and discussion.

SUMMARY
The history of Lord Jagannath is mystery to humans. From ages He symbolizes the elements of all Vedic cults. His temple , his rituals , and his campus of different gods represent him as a God of Universe.Coz all kinds of religion is found within Him. Researchers says Vedic,Budhism,Jainism,Sakta,Sa ivya,Tantra all have its roots in His temple.
Historical studies says His shape of worship is comes from Sabara ( tribal cult ). Along with epics what supports this belief that He is physical body is of Neem woods which is called DARUBRAHMA.( It is believed that only tribal were respecting God in wood deities. The tribal cult of ancient Orissa believed in Eco spirituality. For them even a tree is worshiped which express mankind’s gratitude to nature. Trees of different kinds and their fruits were symbol of worship because of the socio ecological connection of man with nature in a tropical land.Sabara community deeply believed in living with the nature and natural bounties. The benefits of solar energy, yoga , herbs , trees , tantra were great practice of these ancient tribe which has attracted all other religion to come to this land and experience the belief. Huens –Sa during his trip to this part of world describes as a modern theories of living prevailed here unknown to rest of the world. In my personal detail study of this land reveals that their life and activities were the roots of preserving the mother earth .Strange! as we modern world now consciously trying about global warming and the effects after destroying the nature. For the large of Indian we have to blame our history for that.)
He has hundreds of his names out of his tribal name is NEELAMADHABA.The meaning is explained as under.

NEEL- true blue- the universe, the non existence.
MA- Mother- Principles of generation.
DHABA- White- phenomenal expression of nature and its colors.

The tribal expression of Him brings 3 deities.NEEL is Jagarnnath,MA is Suvadra and DHABA is Balavadra. They are 2 brother and 1 sister. They are living Gods. They eat ,sleep, dance, fall sick, travel, just as humans do. But they have their own days for them which symbolizes the calendar of Orissa..

His dairy is known as PANJI. A dairy of activities based on pure Vedic mathematics on which Puri is the centre point of Sun rise and all rituals fixed on this axis. Till now our auspicious days for agriculture , marriage , business is picked from Panji. This books suggests what not to do or eat or start on some particular days and explains a scientific basis for the reason.

His new year falls on 14th April.

The making of Cars starts on 20th April ( Akhi trutia )

The full moon bath falls on 30th June known as SNANA Poornima.On this day the deities take bath in open pendals of the temple in Grand Road and falls sick to take rest from visitors for 15 days till They are recovered and go out for a change by these CARS. And don’t forget ! There is a 4th person goes with them. He is SUDARSHAN ,Lord ‘s own Chakra or Wheel ( as u see on the hands of Vishnu).And He starts first before the Deities from the temple.
The Names of the Chariots.

The Chariot of Balavadra :- Taladhwaja.

The Chariot of Jagarnnath :- Nandighosh.

The Chariot of Suvadra :- Deva dalan.

The events of the festival.
PAHANDI : The procession of deities from the Temple to the chariots.

CHHERA PAHANRA : The brooming of Chariots by the King himself with a golden broom.

Then moves the chariots onwards to their auntie’s temples 2 kms away for 7 days. Then the return journey is known as BAHUDA YATRA. ( falls on July 24Th).

Then comes SUNA VESHA(THE GOLD DRESS) .Means all the deities will be dressed in huge gold ornaments and will showcase them on 26th July till midnight. The day after all the deities will be taken back to their original places of worship.
