Chandipur tips
Numerous travel tips on chandipr are present in web/guides, so I am writing only the things I experienced
1. Have a coastal trek along the sea beach from Chandipur to the mouth of Buribalam river. Do it early morning. Arround 4 KM. You can comeback by trekking in reverse or take a auto from the place at river mouth, there is a small market. Don't do it alone, though we didn't have any problem our hotel staffs warned us about one past incident. 2. If you visit Panchalingeshwar hills then trek up to source of the spring. The route is very small and clearly marked. The source is a tiny pond , elephants visit that in night, you can see their dung. |

Hi - the thread name is pretty generic, so why not put other info on C'pur here, like places to see around, hotels to stay, personal experiences/tips etc?
To start with, we've been there in Feb 2009. The car drop from Balasore Station to C'pur charged us Rs. 170/-. I was told that it would be around 120-140, so I haggled a little, but the cabbies didn't budge. Initially I stayed at Hotel Subham, because of my good experience many years back. But it has no charm left. We moved to OTDC Pantha nivas the next day, it was good. Note that they offer 10% off for Sr Citizens, but I guess you need to book the room at the Sr. Citizen's name. You may want to check it out. I saw a Forest Guest House as well, looks like it's not very well maintained, but can be a good option for all male kinda group. Can anyone post the booking process of the same here? Please also add other experiences.

Great tips!! I had a nice trip to Chandipur a few weeks back. The colony of red crabs on the beach was fascinating. Unfortunately, I could not stay at Panchalingeswar due to absence of electricity for 2 days. It is a great place and need to go back to Panchalingeswar for a couple of days later on.
I have posted a short trip report at: http://travelstorybook.com/chandipur-travel.htm The link to photos is provided in the same page.

Hi! Can somebody help me about the road route from Kolkata to Panchalingeswar ? I have some idea upto Jaleswar, but after Jaleswar, I think, one has to take a turn from NH to some smaller road going towards Nilgiri/Panchalingeswar. Now question is : from which point on NH one has to take turn ? What is the name of the place ? Is it before Balasore or after ? We are planning a visit to Panchalingeswar by road from Kolkata and we need these info for planning the trip. Thanks.
