Bhubaneswar needs international air connection

Ratnagiri,Lalitgiri and Dhauli are places of interst for Budhists. While the first two were great centres of learning, Dhauli is the place where the famous rock edict of Emperor Ashoka exists. This is the place where Kalinga war was fought and consequently, Ashoka renounced violence.

Bhubaneswar could host large number of Budhist tourists from all over the world,particularly from the East, if it has air coonnection with either Bangkok or Singapore.

I lived in Bhubaneswar between 1966 and 1981 and am very familiar with the historical richness including the surrounding areas of Puri & Konark and as far as Chilka Lake on the south and Chandipur beach in the north (Balasore district). I agree that tourism enhancement would be very good, but at the same time natural preservation must be a priority.

The reality is that in the present financial situation that airlines are facing, it would be almost impossible to think about international connectivity from Bhubaneswar. On top of that there may be additional requirements in terms of airport infrastructure and customs & immigration services.
