7 Days at Puri - Need assistance to fix the tour plan

Hi,

Me and my family, total 8 persons are travelling to Puri after Puja.It includes My parents and Unt; 55-65 age group. Also my grandmother will be joining with us on that time who is 75 years old. Lastle Me and my wife are the leader of this tour. 2 of my sisters between 16-18 age group are with us. Here are my plan...

1. 2nd October 2009 (6:00 AM): Reach Puri.

2. 2nd October 2009 (6:30 AM): Will go to Satpada Panthanivas.

3. 2nd October 2009 (8:30 AM): Reach Satpada Panthanivas.

4. 2nd October 2009 (10:00 AM): Boating in Chilka as well as visit the island for Migratory birds.

5. 3rd October 2009 (6:00 AM): Will go to view the Dolphin.

6. 4th October 2009 (8:00 AM): Reach Puri from Satpada.

7. 4th October 2009 (10:00 AM): Enjoying at Sea Beach and in the evening at Puri Swargadwar.

8. 5th October 2009 (8:00 AM): Will go to Jagannath Mandir and rest of the day at Puri.

9. 6th October 2009 (8:00 AM): Will go to visit Lingaraj, Sakshi Gopal, Dhabalgiri, Nandan kanan etc.(Not sure if I need to divide this in two days.)

10. 7th October 2009 (8:00 AM): Not Planned yet.

11. 8th October 2009 (8:00 AM): Last day at Puri. So want to enjoy the Sea Beach.

Now I need some idea regarding my plan. If I need to visit any other place at Chilka - Satpada / Puri which I have missed here.

Also if require I can change the plan.

Please suggest.

We visited the Chilka lake two years ago, unfortunately to late in the season to see the migration birds.

But as far as I understood those island are closer to Barkul, at the other side of the lake. From there you can also visit the Kalaijai island. There is also a Panthanivas hotel.

For visiting the dolphins the boats start at Satapada.

We did both and had some great days.

Hi,

On 6th October after visiting bhubaneswar, You can stay at bhubaneswar. No need to return to Puri again.

In My opinion while coming from puri to bhubaneswar you can also include Konark sun temple. There are some good temples at bhubaneswar which can be visited on 7th.

Alternative Plan.. Come directly to Bhubaneswar, Visit bhubaneswar for 2 days and go to puri via konark.And board your train from puri after visiting puri and chilika.

You have missed Konark Sun temple. In bhubaneswar you can visit Rajarani temple, Mukteswar temple and kedargouri temple. Also on the way to puri from bhubaneswar along with sakhigopal temple, you can include Hanuman Temple at Siruli. This is very famous temple.

Vonkla is right. Dolphins (Irrawaddy) are in Satapada itself. You can visit Rajhans, Nalabana & sea mouth that are nearby and you have to pass the Dolphins in a boat. As far as I remember a dedicated boat for sea mouth via rajhans will cost you around Rs.1300/-.

Kalijai is on the opposite side and the boat starts from Balugan. Though you can visit it from Satapada also, you will require a lot of time. Never tried that so do not have the idea.

And you are missing the place, that should not be missed, Konark. And the marine drive, Ramachandi & Chandrabhaga. There are a lot of temple. Apart from Lingaraj, Kedar Gauri etc, Rajarani & Brahmeshwar are also must visit.

For Nandan kanan & white tiger safari you will require a day.

In Bhubneshwar you should not miss Vaital Temple, it's one of the few remaining Tantric temples of India...

During our visit in Bhubaneswar we made a day tour with the OTDC.
We went to Nandankanan, Udaygiri and Khanagiri caves, Dhauligir, Lingaraj and some other temples.
I wrote down a more detailed report in the February part of my journal Mumbai-Dehli in three months
